Last Saturday a group of almost forty Rotarians and friends set off across a sunny and breezy Morecambe Bay to raise funds for rainwater harvesting in the Horn of Africa.

The 9 mile walk across the bay, which included crossing three river channels and quick sands, was completed with only minor blisters and a little sunburn for some.


Funding of rainwater harvesting through sand dams has been promoted by Rotary ever since the disastrous droughts which occurred in the Horn of Africa two years ago. If not harvested, this water runs straight into the Indian Ocean.
