Gala's Santa sleigh and market

Continental Market on Saturday was cancelled but Rotary stepped in at the last minute!


The Club had arranged to bring Santa on his sleigh to Galashiels on 30 November to tour the town and meet children before the switch on of the Christmas lights.

A Continental Market was expected also take place on the day but, at short notice, was cancelled. This was when Rotarian Tricia Paterson stepped in, on 27th, to arrange a small craft market in its place.

Tricia contacted some local crafters and soon had 6 stalls organised, selling items from baby clothes to local photographs. Inner Wheel brought along their ever popular crepe making machine and sold copies of their newly published cookery book.

The day was saved, Santa still toured the town and the Town band brought some Christmas cheer to the town centre!

Tricia thanked everyone for taking part at such short notice and said she was delighted with the response from the crafters and public. This has given her ideas for future events. And Club President Isobel Johnson said
