Tree of Light

Sun, Dec 10th 2023 at 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The “Tree of Light” is covered in a host of white lights and dressed with white ribbons in memory of loved ones.

Tree of Light – 25 years and still shining brightly.

The Rotary Tree of Light situated each year outside the Congress theatre gives comfort to many people as well as raising funds for our community. Donations received from a great many members of the public sponsoring a light for a loved one, as well as valuable sponsorship from local businesses, has helped us to raise £4,300.

Three donations of £1300 have since been handed over to East Sussex Hearing Centre, Defiant Sports and St. Catherine’s College, as well as £400 to the Salvation Army who always support the event with Christmas Carols. The Rattonians provided singing for the event and poems were shared with the 270 people attending the service who then tied ribbons to the tree.

Dedications are put into a book situated at the Eastbourne Library as well as being visible on the website - https://www.eastbournetreeoflight.co.uk All our sponsors are also listed, so a huge thank you to all involved. Anyone wishing to support the project going forward can contact the organisers, Rotary Club of Eastbourne  AM
