Rotaract Discussion workshop on Ethics in Business and Interview Discrimination

Following a heated pub debate on the film Wolf of Wall Street there was an arranged  Discussion on Ethics in Business led by Rotarians Colin Mitchell, Sylvia Donaldson and Roger Myers.

Sylvia has experience as a woman in different businesses and is presently involved in a group which studies women in business situations.

Roger worked for BP for 25 years in Abu Dhabi, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Indonesia and Quatar.  Later he became a director of Talisman Energy working in Africa, Malaysia and Singapore.

Colin was an executive director of UA Group plc and was involved in the Group companies in Auction Marts, Petrol Station, Insurance, Abattoir and Property Development and Trading.  He also managed the takeover of the Group and management buyout.

After points of experience from each Rotarian, the President of Rotaract, Tea Pesheva from Macedonia, gave an illustrated presentation on questions of what members understand by "ethics"

Members were from Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kurdistan and Liverpool.  Honesty and Trust had to compete against Corruption and Deception in business.  Human traits such as greed and family favourites were too easy to follow in certain environments.

The perception and knowledge of the young Rotaractors enlightened the Rotarians.
