President's Handover. 7th July 2014. A good representation of both club members and welcome guests from Wisbech Rotary Club gathered upon Monday evening, 7th July, at the regular meeting in the Conservative Club, March, to witness the handover of office to the new President for 2014 -15, Godfrey Smith. Retiring President, Peter Bennett thanked everyone for their support over his year in office, on behalf of his Wife, Brenda, and himself. He then carried out the formal installation of Godfrey, to the general approbation of the assembled members. Chis Bishop was the installed by Peter as Vice President. Taking the President's chair, Godfrey thanked Peter for his work on behalf of the Club during his term of office, and set out simply and clearly his ideas and aspirations for the year to come. To look forward, engage in joint projects with The Lions for the good of the community, and be more open and active presenting the Rotary image to the general public. Several schemes and major fund raising projects are planned, some already being implemented. Vice President, Chis Bishop thanked Brenda and Peter Bennett for hosting a very enjoyable lunch party upon the 29th June in the Conservative Club. Godfrey then took the chair, and as his first official duty, proposed that Rotarian John Reeve, be given Honorary Life Membership of the March Club. John Reeve has been a stalwart of the Club from almost its inception in 1956. Every ready to help in whatever way, he has personified by example, the ethics of Rotary life. This proposal was carried unanimously. The meeting then closed, which new ideas, new enthusiasm, and a new Year ahead. The Officers for the Club in 2014 are, President Godfrey Smith, Vice President Chris Bishop, Hon. Secretary Michael Calvert, Hon. Treasurer Alan Burdass. Robert Freeman Press Officer
