Race night

The Sport of Kings provided an ideal evening's entertainment for over 80 members, and guests of The Rotary Club of March at their annual Race Night held at the Conservative Club, on Saturday 31st January 2015. Proceedings were conducted by Capt. Ayres and 'Honest Steve Bradshaw' ran the Tote on behalf of the Conservative Club, who also provided the projection equipment and commentary A fine light meal of traditional sausages, mash and peas, with desert to follow, set up the punters for their flutter. Betts Butchers in Station Road, supplied the bangers, while Baron Morris of Stonea, as ever, the spuds. With 8 races, and investment of 50 pence a time, no one cleaned up or was taken to the cleaners. This popular event is the largest fund raiser for the Rotary Club, and all proceeds will be used to support Rotary Charities both local and national throughout the coming year. It is estimated that a little in excess of £1025.00 will result.
