Young Chef 2020

A very successful District final of Young Chef was held at in Livingston on 1st February. Four Young chefs took part after qualifying from the club and area rounds of the competition and as always the standard was impressive.

The four competitors were

  • Andrea Martinez Ruiz - sponsored by Corstorphine Rotary Club
  • Lucy Langan - sponsored by Dumfries Rotary Club
  • Cameron Scott - sponsored by Dumfries Rotary Club
  • Chelsea Lamb - sponsored by Jedburgh Rotary Club

Judging was difficult for the two experienced judges, Mandy Purdy, catering lecturer at Edinburgh College, and Ian Potts, Lockerbie Rotarian and also a teaching chef. The comment was made that had some of these dishes been presented for a City and Guilds exam they would have been awarded a Merit, if not Distinction.

First place was awarded to Chelsea, with Cameron second, Lucy third and Andrea fourth. Chelsea and Cameron go on to the Scottish final in Stirling on 7 March 2020.
