Information about the 2020-21 competition

Information for Clubs

Communication skills are one of the most sought after and useful skills that young people can demonstrate.  The Young Writer competition provides an opportunity for the young people of District 1010 to put their creative skills to the test. 

The theme for 2020-21 is My Happiest Day. 

The challenge is:

To produce a legible written or typed story entitled, ‘My Happiest Day’. The written entry may be fiction or non-fiction, prose, or a poem, as long as the piece relates to the theme.

  • Up to maximum of 550 words for prose entries.
  • Up to a maximum of 40 lines for poetry entries.
  • No pictures/drawings to be part of the entry.

All entries to be legible. Can be written or typed.

Essential Information


All entries to Clubs to be by date determined by Club (suggested early February 2021). 

Club winners in each age group to District by 6 March 2021.

District winners in each age group will be sent on to the national RIBI competition.

Age Groups 

Junior 7 to 10

Intermediate 11 to 13

Senior 14 to 17

Age as at 31/8/2020
