Dear All,

Many thanks for volunteering to help with the Christmas Parade on Saturday 5 December.  As you know, Borderland Rotary Club has been organising the event for many years, and this year Cambrian as well as our own Club will be helping.  John Thompson has briefed me on the useful work he’s already done to shape up our contribution.  I’m taking over from him now in view of his forthcoming knee op. Thanks and best wishes, John.

I’m in close touch with Jonathan Jones, Borderland’s longstanding parade organiser.  He would like us to help with both of the main jobs: collecting for local charities, and keeping the route safe and free from traffic.  He’s hoping 4 of us will volunteer to man barriers, so please let me know if you’d like to do this.

Please report to the start point (along Lower Brook Street in the direction of Victoria Road) at 10.15 am, when Jonathan will brief everyone in greater detail. Those doing the collecting will be supplied with buckets by Borderland and I will hand out our Club tabards.

The Parade starts officially at 11.00 am, following the normal route along Church Street to the Cross where large vehicles split to go up Willow Street and Castle Street.  The rest of the parade continues along Cross Street, Leg Street, Beatrice Street (where large vehicles rejoin the Parade), Oswald Road, then back along Cross Street and Church Street.

The Parade’s expected to be even bigger this time than in previous years.  Looking forward to seeing you there – thanks again,

Peter Hill
