Duck Race (Summer)

The annual competition sees numbered plastic ducks, which all correspond to tickets sold, released into Bradshaw Brook. Money raised goes directly to charities and organisations.

Going Quackers for the Fastest Duck

The annual Turton Rotary Club Duck race is an eagerly awaited event of the summer calendar when thousands of pounds are raised for local charities.

Thousands of ducks can be seen bobbing their way down the fast-flowing Bradshaw Brook cheered on by a large crowd who come out to support this annual event and line the banks of the brook as all bets are off.

The club raises more than £9,000 each year through selling tickets for corresponding numbered plastic ducks, which are then released into the brook over two heats with each of the winners going into a grand final. First duck home wins £1,000 first prize for the ticket owner with four more cash prizes. There is also a children's race, with tickets bought on the day.

Race organiser Jim Turner was delighted with the response in 2019, "It was perfect duck racing weather as we had a fast-flowing stream that kept the ducks moving," he said. "Thanks must be given to our sponsors and everyone who helped make it another successful day and all the hard work worthwhile."

If you are a local business and want to sponsor the event, get in touch with Jim below and your business's logo will be printed onto each and every ticket sold and publicised across our social networks.
