"‹Flat caps, flag-waving and fun featured at the 88th anniversary Charter Dinner at the Ripon Spa Hotel. The event was attended by over 100 people with ten Rotary Clubs and one Inner Wheel Club represented.

Guest speaker Eric Scaife, Information Officer for the Yorkshire Dialect Society, described 'Tyke Talk' with anecdotes which clearly demonstrated that Yorkshire dialect is associated with common sense, loyalty and reliability.

Mayor of Ripon Coun. Pauline McHardy was amazed at what had been achieved by the Club over the last year and Rotary District Governor Hazel Haas emphasised how this was making a positive difference to the city.

Club President Chris Eyes referred to the privilege he felt to be leading the Club and outlined the achievements of Bill Stockill who was presented with a Rotary Sapphire Award.
