Rotarians collect for Yorkshire Flood Victims

The Rotary Club of Normanton decided to make another public appeal to raise funds, this time for the stricken families in the Yorkshire area who have been devastated by the recent floods.

The last appeal was in early December when collections were made and funds transferred to the unfortunate flood victims in the Cumbrian area.  Rotarian Alan Drewitt, Chairman of our Membership Committee, quickly made arrangements with the managements of the Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre in Castleford and the ASDA Supermarket in Normanton, for us to hold collections on Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th January, respectively. Our members were in attendance from early morning until late afternoon and the generosity of the Public was again very pleasing. The donations received exceeded £500 at both venues amounting to £1103.43 in total.

We wish to place on record, our appreciation to the management of The Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre Castleford and the ASDA Supermarket in Normanton for their help and co-operation, without which this essential charitable fundraising could not have been achieved.
