Rotary donates to St Luke's Hospice

Members of the Rotary Club of Wickford visit St Luke's Hospice to see how the proceeds of a donation has been used

A number of members from the Rotary Club of Wickford visited St Luke's Hospice in Basildon recently to donate the proceeds of the "Jazz on a Summer Evening" event last year, and to see the work which is done there.

St Luke's is a charity run organisation which provides respite and end of life care to the chronically sick in the area, and comprises a eight bed In Patient Unit as well as day care facilities, as well as providing hospice-at-home facilities to the local community.

The Rotary Club of Wickford have contributed regularly since the inception of the hospice by Trudy Cox in 1983, and last year held the Jazz on a Summer Evening event at RHS Hyde Hall in aid of St Lukes. A total of just over £2189 was donated, which has been used by the hospice to purchase a defibrillator and specialised furniture for the use of the patients.

This year's event will be held on July 1st and again the proceeds will be donated to the hospice.

If you would like to donate to St Luke's, why not donate little and often by  Joining the Lottery run by the hospice and perhaps win something back as well!
