The Gardening Committee of the Rotary Club of Halifax have been active again!

John Seager, the clubs Environmental Officer, took the pictures recently of volunteer members of the Rotary Club of Halifax taking a rest-bite from its gardening activities on land by the side of the Yorkshire Bank in Halifax.

A few times a year Rotarians set about with hoes and shovels cleaning and maintaining, preparing and replanting a few beds within Halifax’s Town Centre. They are always aided by members of Calderdale’s Park Committee who welcome Rotary’s involvement in trying to keep the many shrub and flowering beds in the town in tip-top condition. The Rotary Club of Halifax’s greatest achievement was the formation (and continually maintained) of a several hundred meter bed along the road above Halifax’s Shay Stadium. The success of this project a couple of years ago resulted in us being awarded the District’s Environmental Award.
