Newbury Rotarian takes on the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge for Charity

Thank you to all who have supported and sponsored me for the event so far.  Today marks just 4 weeks until the start of the cycle ride from Lands End to John O Groats.  I am one of 58 like minded cyclists taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for our chosen charities, which could not function without public funding.

In the last 2 months I have learnt a great deal about myself and my resolve having just lost my father to Alzheimers after about 4 years diagnosed.  Dad is one reason I had chosen to support the Alzheimers Society as one of my 2 charities as they are focused on looking after not only the Alzheimers patient but also the carers as well, providing meetings, support and research.

My other charity is Coram Life Education Thames Valley, a charity dear to Newbury Rotary Club.  This is a charity that provides a mobile classroom and educator to primary schools to teach children about subjects of bullying, drug awareness, healthy eating etc hopefully setting out an educated pathway for their future decision making.

Training is going well and by the time I reach the start line I will have achieved around 3000 miles of road cycling this year.

If you feel you could support me in my fundraising please go to:

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MosleyKevin1 to donate.  If you are a UK taxpayer please also tick the giftaid box at no additional cost to you.

I hope to have a round up after the event to let you all know how the challenge went and also to let you know how much I have raised for my 2 fantastic charities.

Thank you again for your support.

Last year it was London to Brussels, but this year Newbury Rotarian, Kevin Mosley, is going for the big one – LEJOG (Lands End to John O’Groats) which entails a 1000 mile 12 day cycle challenge.

This year, Kevin is raising funds for two charities, Coram Life Education Centres, Thames Valley and  the Alzheimers Society. Both charities signify important aspects of Kevin’s recent years.

Coram Life Education Centres Thames Valley is a local charity which Kevin, as a member of The Rotary Club of Newbury was proud to have helped to establish in the West Berkshire area.

Kevin’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in early 2013 and during a difficult year, of coming to terms with dad’s condition, plus, his mother, dad’s carer, fell ill and eventually passed away in early 2014. Through this time, the family was helped by the Alzheimer’s Society with advice and being there when needed. To SPONSOR Kevin with this new LEJOG challenge with a group of around 40 complete strangers in a fully self funded and organised cycle ride commencing on the 30th August, please
