District Conference 2016 - 04/07/16

Weekly Press Report

On Sunday, the fitter members of Seagate Rotary had a gentle stroll from Ayr to Irvine on the Ayrshire coastal path.  Having already done the sections from Irvine to Largs, this leaves the southern part form Glenapp to Ayr still to be covered.  The coastal path was developed through an initiative of Ayr Rotary Club.

Prior to Monday’s meeting, President Adam Moonie presented a cheque for £500 to Stephanie Frearson of SANDS, the local stillbirth and neonatal death support group.  This was the proceeds of the Rotary bottle stall at their gala in Eglinton Park.

Seagate has agreed to sponsor the Irvine Folk Club’s Old Folks concert at Marymass.

Speaker at Monday’s meeting was Alex Blair, promoting the Rotary District Conference which will be held in Clydebank in October.  The theme of the conference will be how Rotary can help promote health and wellbeing for all ages, from children to the elderly.  Keynote speakers will include Dr Sally Magnusson, Dr Carol Davidson, Director of Public Health NHS Ayrshire and Arran, and Dr Waiyin Hatton, founder of Ayrshire Sportsabliity.
