International Students Evening 5.30 for 6.00pm at The Wynnstay Hotel

Mon, Jan 16th 2017 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FOR a market town in the Welsh Marches, Oswestry has a fair number of international visitors, not least the foreign secondary school students who come here to study; some of whom are boarders at schools around the town whilst others now live here.

The Rotary Club of Oswestry's International Students Evening has become an enjoyable annual event when the Club invites a number of these students to have dinner with them before they give a short talk to the Club about their lives and education in Oswestry and contrast that with their home country.

Eleven students, from ten countries, from Moreton Hall, Oswestry School, The Marches Academy and Ellesmere College, were the accomplished guests at the latest such evening at The Wynnstay Hotel when, after dinner, all spoke extremely well in their adopted language.  A question session at the end of each talk allowed for the different groups to interact which revealed much about the variety of home experiences.

President Ian Haigh, in thanking them for their insights, declared how the audience "had been impressed with the positive attitude of the students," and that, as they all aimed at future higher education and careers, he hoped that they would look back on their time in Oswestry well and wished them luck!
