Oswestry Rotary Club Collect for the Air Ambulance

At the end of the summer, members of the Rotary Club of Oswestry gathered together their unwanted foreign currency, any pre-Euro European currency and small change from around the house - in fact any unwanted currency.  Using Cash 4 Coins, the currency exchanger, who support many large charities, the Midlands Air Ambulance (MAA) was chosen to receive the value of the money and donation buckets were left at The Wynnstay for the public to join in too!

By the middle of November, 14kg of coins and notes had been received and a heavy parcel, strongly wrapped and taped, was dispatched to Cash 4 Coins with notification of the value of the collection eagerly awaited.  Comprising Euro coins and notes, mixed world coins and notes and UK currency together with 1.35kg of non-redeemable scrap coins, the collection was valued at £207.18 which was transferred into the MAA bank account this month.

Thanking the Club for their support, MAA Communications Manager Helen Stevens said "It is like an early Christmas present really and is greatly appreciated."

Thanking everyone who had brought currency to The Wynnstay for the collection, Club President Ian Haigh said "This was an easy way to raise funds for the Air Ambulance as people don't mind donating foreign coins as they can't be changed at the bank and they often forget to take them the next time they go abroad. This stops them lingering at the back of a drawer for ever and going to waste."
