Rotary Fun Run in the park

On Sunday 4th December almost 100 children and adults (and a few dogs) joined our 2016 Santa Fun Run to raise funds for local charities.

The Rotary Club of Market Bosworth 2016 Santa Fun Run

This increasingly popular event took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Market Bosworth Country Park and was again blessed with glorious autumn sunshine. The children ran a 2km course and adults covered a 5km route.

Almost 100 adults and children of widely ranging abilities and fitness entered our 7th Santa Fun Run and three families even completed the run with pushchairs!

In the children's section this year's winners were:

1st: Sophie Bates, Gold medal

2nd: Lily Riley-Flinders

3rd: Abigail Skinner.

Special thanks go to Ellie Briggs who took on the role of the "safety hare" to lead the youngsters around the course. She was rewarded with a big box of chocolates.

In the adult section:

1st: Tony Walker, Gold medal.

2nd: Gary Davis

3rd: Duncan Reaney

4th  was Claire Bates, the first lady to cross the finishing line.

The Fun Run included a dog walkers' section in which the excited animals led their owners at their pace, no doubt with a few deviations along the route.

Over £700 was raised for our local charities and thanks go to Rotarian Julian George for organising this very successful event which has now become a permanent feature in the Market Bosworth calendar.
