Chocolate Workshop to raise funds for WOW Water Charity

Sat, Sep 23rd 2017 at 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

We learnt about New Koforidua and Ghana and cocoa, had a light picnic lunch, make chocolate, and were away by 2pm. The workshop donation was £25 per person including the lunch.

As a fundraiser we held a chocolate making workshop on Saturday 23rd September from 11am until  2pm at Manchester Communication Academy, Collyhurst, East Manchester.

The workshop was for 15-20 people.  The cost was £25 per person.

The event was led by Bruce Crowther, the man who came up with the concept of towns becoming FairTrade towns.  He has an MBE for his community development service projects, and is a Pathfinder Chief in a cocoa farming community in Ghana.

Participants  went from having in your hand some cocoa beans PP Robin Graham brought back from Ghana to holding their very own self created chocolate bar.  We had a light picnic lunch, learnt about the culture and customs of Ghana and cocoa, learned  our Twi name, and were entertained with poetry by the Chief Linguist to Nana Kwado Osafo 1st of New Koforidua.

Bruce donated his time, and all profits will go to the WOW Water project set up and run and supported by Rotary Clubs In Manchester.. Photographs from the event appear in the Gallery
