The St Andrews Rotary had a wide awakening at their lunch meeting, when Maddie Fuller, the President of the University Rotaract Club, took to the floor with her presentation.

The usual lunch of fellowship and chat was upstaged by Maddie’s unique and infectious sense of fun.

A third year student, Maddie hails from a small town in Michigan USA and is the youngest ever President of Rotaract. Her early life in Michigan introduced her to her local Rotary club, whose members were much involved in the town’s annual production of the musical “Showboat”.

Maddie therefore thought, for many years, that all Rotary clubs started with community singing! Whilst St Andrews Rotary has some very fine singers, this is not usually a part of the lunch meeting programme.

This did not deter the irrepressible Maddie, who after her entertaining presentation, cajoled the assembled members into singing a typical summer camp song, along with the appropriate actions, which was without doubt, thoroughly enjoyed by all present.

Rotarian Colin Mitchell in his vote of thanks, spoke highly of Maddie and thanked her for her commitment to Rotaract. He added that no one would now ever forget Maddie!
