The Disabled Swimming Club at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital was first set up in October 1992 and runs every Tuesday between 3pm and 6pm.

It gives patients the opportunity to continue improving once their treatment has been completed, as well as the chance to find joy, pleasure, reduced pain or relaxation in the warm water of the hospital's Hydrotherapy Pool.

Recently, Oswestry Rotary Club approved a request from the Disabled Swimming Club to grant £250 to purchase a sling hoist to help access to the pool sessions for those who require assistance.  Gill Cripps, a volunteer and the chairman of the Disabled Swimming Club, visited the Rotary meeting today to receive their cheque and show members what they were helping to supply.

Thanking the Rotary Club Gill said: "You wouldn't think that such a 'flimsy' thing would be so expensive but the Disabled Swimming Club is so important to our patients and, for many, it can be the highlight of their week.  This sling will help some of our members access the pool."
