PROJECT UPDATE

John Cooper’s visit to The Glory Hut in Thailand .The beds are due to be delivered on 3rd February and they plan to move into the new building on 15th February. ( See Paul’s article below).

Background to John’s Visit.

We have supported The Glory Hut together with the Rotary Club of Eastern Seaboard to the sum of about £4800 to purchase 42 beds and bedding, pillows etc that will be delivered on 3rd February. In addition we have received a Rotary District Grant of $1000 that will also go to help equip the new premises near Pattaya. This all started from my visit with Eileen to Thailand in January 2016 to be driven around the country by our friend Kevin Maguire who lives in Thailand. He visits the Glory Hut (which is a community for families and individuals suffering from AIDs) once a month to donate for to help keep them going. We were extremely struck by the community when Kevin took us to visit them as a surprise. He did not tell us where we were going, just took us there. To see these young children and indeed babies suffering from AIDs and ostracised by the community around them made us realise that here was a way in which Rotary can certainly make a difference. They are extremely grateful for all Rotary has done for them and our friend Kevin had no idea that this simple visit he planned for us would lead to such a Rotary project between two clubs.
