Established in 1968, Rotaract is a global network of young people who are changing the world with clubs in over 160 countries worldwide. Rotaract is a structured programme of Rotary International for young professionals and students, aged 18 to 30, who are committed to service and leadership in their communities and abroad.
Rotaract clubs operate much like Rotary clubs. Their members, called Rotaractors, follow the Four Way Test and exemplify Service Above Self. Although Rotaractors are not considered to be junior Rotarians, they are, in fact the Rotarians of the future.
The goals of Rotaract, as set out by Rotary International, are:
Rotaract is for 18 to 30 year olds who are as keen as we are as Rotarians to make a difference. If you were to visit a Rotaract Club you would recognise Rotary in it through its structure (President, Treasurer, Secretary, Committees etc), principles (Service Above Self), projects (both local community based and international) and the fun had by all. You might find that they have a few more activities going on each month than our Rotary Clubs.
Those who have come through Rotaract will tell you it is one of the most amazing experiences you can have – all those skills necessary for careers and life experienced at such a young age whilst learning what it is to make a difference both near and far.
