Year of Health & Wellbeing Event @ Oswestry Library - Friends of Parkies & Haemochromatosis

Mon, Jul 2nd 2018 at 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Moving into July's theme of "Find Out About Your Health" we had information stands manned by 'Friends of Parkies' for those affected by Parkinsons Disease and The Haemochromatosis Society.

Ian Bunting will be familiar to memnbers of our club as he was our guest speaker back in April. Ian's charity provides a self-help group for sufferers of Parkinsons diseaseand their families and friends.

Not so familiar, Haemochromatosis is an inherited condition in which iron levels in the body slowly build up over many years. This build-up of iron, known as iron overload, can cause unpleasant symptoms. If it isn't treated, this can damage parts of the body such as the liver, joints, pancreas and heart.

Both stands were provided by the Joint Rotary Club of Oswestry and Oswestry Library 'Year of Wellbeing Programme'.

Next up a Macmillan Cancer information session.
