Grimsby Rotary Club ran a stall of traditional fun and games in the Memorial Gardens, raising GBP131.50 for Charity.

This year's North Thoresby 1940s event featured re-enactors, horse and carriage rides, a 1940’s bus period transport from North Thoresby Square to the Station, N.E.Lincs light railway rides from North Thoresby to Ludborough Station. There were a diverse range of attractions including craft stalls, food stalls, vintage vehicles, army vehicles, fire engine, miniature steam engine rides, bouncy castle and slide, a low cost NAAFI as well as activities in the School and Church based events.

The Grimsby Rotary Club operated a ‘Fun Stall’ within Will Douglas's pop-up gazebo in the village memorial gardens.  Rotarians Michael Gough, Leslie Donaldson, Gordon Chapman were at hand to assist with the set up on Sunday.  Four activities comprising a'Prize Key Box' by John and Sheila Norman, 'Bowling' and 'Land Mine Sand Box' by Martyn and Anne Turner and 'Buzz Wire' by Richard and Sara Vivian were geared to entertain children and adults alike. Despite the inclement weather and early close to the activities on Sunday there was plenty of interest and a steady stream of players - looking for shelter from the rain perhaps!.  Better weather on Monday attracted even more people, with Rotarians John Clark, Ian Birrell and Mike Carr taking their turn to assist John and Sheila throughout the day.

The Stall raised a total of GBP131.50 for the Rotary Benevolent Fund after deducting GBP23 given in prizes.  The organisers of the North Thoresby Community Fund waived their usual GBP60 per day fee in recognition of our charity status.  We all had good fun and recognised the interest shown in these activities especially by family groups visiting the event, making the idea something we could possibly expand on in future years.
