The Rotary Club of Dunstable

Reflections on 2018

As the year draws to a close our club reflects on some of the achievements during the latter part of 2018.

In October we held our annual Old Peoples Coach Outing travelling to far flung places in Bedfordshire and culminating in a lovely tea provided by the ladies of Dunstable Inner Wheel club, at the Dunstable Salvation Army Citadel, for which we are very grateful to both.

December was the start of our Christmas Santa Float. The last couple of years we have had 2 floats so we could tour round the area as well as having static sites at local supermarkets.

Again this year we were overwhelmed by the response from local organisations and PTAs who offered help on individual nights.

Also we would like to thank the general public who contributed to the collections which will go towards funding local charities.

On Christmas Day we provided 29 cooked lunches to people on their own. This very worthwhile service has been established for more than 30 years. The food is prepared by the Dunstable Salvation Army. We hold a Turkey raffle in December and the money raised helps towards the cost of the meals provided.

The picture shows the Friends of  Beecroft School with Santa on his sleigh, one of many organisations helping with the Christmas Santa Float.
