This is the article we sent to the local press....

On Wednesday May 8th Knighton Rotary President Ivan Jones, Rotary Community Chair Nick Stimpson and Rotary members Eileen Myers and Cathy Jones attended the meeting of the 2nd Knighton Brownies at the Knighton Baptist Church. They met with Brownie Leader Julie King and she explained to them how the Brownies work and showed the interactions between the girls and their leaders. She also explained that they intended to spend the Knighton Rotary Club’s donation on New Programme resources such as Skills Builder/Unit Meeting Activities, Badge Books and Badges. Brownie Leader Julie King said “We are currently working on a skills builder called “Innovate” to design, create and experiment”. Rotary President Ivan Jones said “We have enjoyed seeing the girls busy and happy and are proud to be able to support the Brownies in Knighton” Julie added “We are very appreciative of the donation made by Knighton Rotary Club as it allows us to offer more to our girls. We are also looking to purchase cupboards to store equipment so this donation will allow us to concentrate on fundraising for those”. As Girlguiding themselves say “We build girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. We give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. We give them a space to have fun. We run Rainbows (5-7 years) Brownies (7-10 years) Guides (10 – 14 years) and Rangers (14-25 years)”  You can find out more about the 2nd Knighton Brownies on www.girlguiding.org.uk or you can contact Julie King directly on julieking.guiding@gmail.com As Julie said “We are very keen to encourage people to join us as Leaders, helpers and girls in all sections so please feel free to contact me anytime!”
