Pupils at Oswestry School have raised £1,098.09 for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB).

During the last academic year Sixth Form students, Andrei-Daniel Bahan, Phoebe Munford and Ivan Majić, coordinated the Rotary Interact Club at the school, a team of eight members, and carried out a series of projects with the purpose of raising money for different local and national charities.

From January the Club decided to support the RNIB, a national charity that helps with the provision of various services and other support for the blind. The pupils decided that it was a good opportunity to support the charity in during their 150th anniversary year.

The money has been raised through a series of activities including cake bake sales, a quiz night, an own clothes day in May, the sponsored whole school walk and a stall serving refreshments at the Bellan House Sports Day.
Amy and Sarah, representatives from the RNIB, accepted the cheque at the school’s start of term assembly held in St Oswald’s Parish Church, Oswestry.

President of the Interact Club, Andre-Daniel Bahan, said, “I would like to give a big thank you to the Interact team for all their efforts over the past academic year; everyone put a lot of hard work into each of the activities. I’d also like to thank Mrs Sue Leonard, from the Rotary Club, and Mrs Suzanne Shooman, our teacher from school, who have helped us over the past year.”
