A great achievement for Amanda

A BARROW woman who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis five years ago celebrated her 49th birthday by completing an epic biking challenge.

Amanda Miles took on the Tour De Furness' 50 mile bike ride, raising £220 for Multiple Sclerosis Society in the process.

Miss Miles said: “I felt happy that I was able to prove to myself that I could do it.

"I completed the Tour De Furness a few years ago before I was diagnosed and wanted to challenge myself to complete it now."

She said living with multiple sclerosis had left her with little feeling in her right arm and sight loss in one of her eyes.

She continued: “My friends and family couldn’t believe I did it.”

Her sister Angie Chester said: “She has never let this affect her life. She regularly suffers relapses and finds certain tasks difficult now, but never complains never feels sorry for herself.”
