Dunstable Round up

A busy October and November for Dunstable

Our club has once again been busy with various activities.

In October, 42 people were taken by coach to Poplars Nursery in Toddington and on their return to the Salvation Army Citadel, Bull Pond Lane, were treated to a sumptuous tea prepared by ladies of The Inner Wheel Club of Dunstable.

The club, along with other organisations, has been involved in the distribution and collection of poppies and counting of donations for the last few years. Volunteers stood outside local shops and supermarkets collecting from the public. The total raised last year was over £42,000 and the aim is to beat that total this year. To date many thousands of pounds have been counted already. Over 400 boxes were distributed to shops and schools in Dunstable and the surrounding areas.

On Monday 18th November, 9 people started the mammoth task of counting the money and over the course of the day more people arrived to help.

From 2nd December our Christmas Float will be touring the streets of Dunstable and the surrounding areas, and at weekends at various supermarkets, so keep a lookout for the float and its cheerful music.

On Christmas Day, a tradition we have kept for many years, is the distribution of lunches to those less fortunate than ourselves, very generously prepared by the Salvation Army, so if you are on your own on Christmas Day and would like a lunch please contact the number below beforehand.

On New Years Day, another long standing event takes place, at Houghton Regis Leisure Centre. Our Antiques and Collectibles Fare will open for trade at 9 am and 10 am for the public.
