For the first time, Whitby and District Rotary Club ran the National 2019/20 Young Writer's Competion with 22 local schools invited to participate.

The title of the piece, either prose or poem, was "Connections" which certainly proved a challenge to the three age groups.

There were 122 entries and a select panel of judges chose winners, runners up and highly commended in each group.

The Club awarded book tokens to the winners and runners up, certificates to the highly commended and cash to the winning Schools.
In the comming term, the competition will be run again with the title, "My Happiest Day". It is hoped that more schools will put in entries for the competition.
