Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run in aid of Essex Air Ambulance

Join us for a special 2020 Covid-19 safe edition of the much loved Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run which this year will be run as a Time Trial style event between Saturday 5 and Sunday 13 September.

Brightlingsea & District Rotary Club is proud to organise the Brightlingsea Jog Walk Run which is held annually in September in support of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the 2020 event will be run using a special Time Trial format with competitors able to complete the course between 9am and 5.30pm on any day between Saturday 5 and Sunday 13 September. Those who are racing the course are asked to record their own time and details of how to submit your finish time will be sent to you following entry.

For the 2020 event a special course has also been devised, as part of the traditional seawall course is undergoing repairs, making safe passage difficult. In addition, the nature of this year’s event means that the course cannot be marshalled, so the new course aims to ensure participants remain close to the town and in regularly frequented areas should they require any assistance. The new course is circular, starting and finishing at Brightlingsea’s famous Bateman’s Tower. For those arriving by bus, the Station Road bus stop on First Bus Route 62 from Colchester is closest to the start point

Like the traditional course, the new course is approximately 4 miles long on a combination of footpaths, rural and town roads. The new course takes in a large part of the harbour-side and a number of places of interest around the town.

Full details of the course will be sent to entrants on completion of online registration. Two versions of the route information will be provided – the first giving the basic route information for those wishing to run, jog or canicross (note dogs are welcome but must be on a lead for the majority of the route), and the second giving information about points of interest on the route that those walking, particularly with children, might like to check out along the way.

All funds raised by the event will go to support the work of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance who provide such a vital service to our community and who are entirely dependent on charitable donations. In addition to paying their entry fee competitors are encouraged to also support the charity through individual sponsorship and/or by encouraging their friends and family to donate in support of their participation. Visit www.brightlingseajogwalkrun.com for more information and to enter online.
