Rotarians Think Globally & Act Locally

Mohammad Alramahi - Luton Someries

We are all responsible for reducing the negative impact on the environment.

Rotarians contribute to nature preservation by carrying out environmentally friendly projects which aid and support our communities and simply protect our planet.

The environment is an important area of focus for Rotary

  • Rotary is involved with practical activities like tree planting and conservation projects.
  • The Rotary Club of Luton Someries helps recycle more obscure items through a dedicated programme.
  • A number of Clubs across Beds, Bucks and Herts have assisted schools, community groups and individuals with the provision of sensory gardens or other outdoor areas.
  • Spring each year sees a beautiful purple carpet of crocus blooming in many communities across Great Britain and Ireland thanks to the Purple Crocus Corm planting to raise awareness of the Rotary fight for a polio free world. The purple colour reflects the purple dye put on children’s fingers in countries where they are given polio drops.
