Walking for Water

Rotary Scarborough Cavaliers writes:

Our International project for 2020 will complete our goal to bring safe water to 3,000 people in six remote communities in Ghana. Women and sometimes children spend many hours every day collecting water from streams, ponds or dug-outs, most of it unclean.

£1000 has been raised by the latest initiative!

Women have little time to fulfil their potential, tend crops or care for their children.
First, each community receives a hand operated filter so that enough safe water for drinking can be produced. As funds come in the filter is replaced by a borehole, giving abundant safe water at the heart of the community.
Women and children will have time to achieve their potential and lead meaningful lives.

By working with trusted partners on the ground in Ghana, all six remote communities have received their filter and so far five have been replaced by boreholes (the superseded filters have been relocated to others without safe water). Our sponsored walk aims to provide the sixth community with a borehole.
