Background to the charities we are supporting

School in a Bag -  Luke Simon founded the charity, the Piers Simon Appeal, in 2005, shortly after his brother Piers sadly lost his life in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

A SchoolBag can transform the way in which children can be taught and therefore learn – your gift can be a passport to a future life free from poverty.  They support children in all countries regardless of race, politics or religion.  They work with local partners on the ground thus empowering them within their communities.  Every SchoolBag is numbered and trackable providing complete donor transparency.

Mary’s Meals -Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow founded Mary’s Meals in 1993, the Charity’s

vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.  By providing a daily meal in a place of learning, we meet the immediate needs of hungry children and encourage them to go to school to gain an education that can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty.

KASIN (Kids at School in Nepal) – Founded in 2005 their mission is to ensure all children have the right to a decent education. They are helping children from disadvantaged communities in rural Nepal to realise their full potential.  They help by rebuilding a Primary school, building a girl’s hostel, funding an after-school club, providing the annual food for a children’s hostel and sponsoring 80 of the neediest children to attend school. They are also seeking to fund teacher training, school equipment & resources and a 5-Year Community Plan for the village of Tamang Kharka.
