Supporting Keynsham Food Bank

Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club Supporting the Local CommunityWhen Covid-19 struck earlier in the year Keynsham Food Bank became a life line to many people in the communities of Keynsham, Saltford and the Chew Valley. Demand for emergency food increased 5 fold in April, compared with previous year and has continued at unprecedented levels since then. As a result the Club agreed to donate £200 each month for a 6 month period to help fund additional food parcels.Then, towards the end of the summer, the Club became aware of the “Tesco Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund”, part of Tesco’s emergency response to the virus. The Fund was offering a £500 one-off award to eligible organisations which were experiencing increased demand for their support to vulnerable groups in the community. The Club immediately applied, and after completing Tesco’s comprehensive application process was delighted to receive confirmation that their application had been successful! The Club has now donated the additional £500 award from Tesco to Keynsham Food Bank in the form of two equal payments, one in October and one in November, thereby continuing the Club’s support to the Food Bank for two extra months.Quote from Club President Tony Quinn “I am very pleased that Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club has been able to help Keynsham Food Bank and the challenges they face”
