Bradford Backing Kenya’s Babies.

The founder of Kenya Charity, Mama Na Mtoto (MNM) UK, Anita Jones, has thanked Bradford Bronte for all the support she has received in a Christmas Fair collection for her Charity Shop.

The club heard her call out for volunteers for the Yorkshire-based shop and for a new shop manager.

The charity has been in the Club’s hearts since conception in 2015, having worked tirelessly to implement prevention projects in communities living below the poverty line and the hardest communities to reach in the Kilifi region of Kenya .

This small but effective organisation helps pregnant mothers and babies in community-based facilities, which are easily accessible and, crucially,  free.    Working in partnership with a medical training college also ensures that tomorrow’s midwives have experiential learning in the field – a first for Kenya.

Their newest project is for young women who have started their periods and cannot attend school; they have no information about their sexual  health, consent or contraception. MNM has employed a Wellbeing practitioner who confidentially talks to the girls and provides the young women with free reusable sanitary packs to benefit their self-esteem and attendance at school .

The charity is multi-functional and works holistically to address family issues. The local dispensary has built a borehole providing essential water to a village and incinerator for waste.
