Tue, Mar 2nd 2021 at 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Pam was talking to us on Tuesday 2nd March.
An insight into the Power of Music and how it can enhance difficult conditions such as dementia.

Pam Ribbeck is a Communities Officer with Playlist for Life, a UK-wide music and dementia charity based in Glasgow. Pam will give a short presentation on the benefits of personal music for people living with dementia, and how Playlist for Life are supporting families, communities and care professionals to harness the power of personal playlists to support the people they care for.

The charity was founded in 2013 by writer and broadcaster Sally Magnusson after the death of her mother, Mamie, who had dementia. The charity’s vision is simple: for everyone with dementia to have a unique, personal playlist and everyone who loves or cares for them to know how to use it. Over two decades of scientific research has shown that listening to a personal playlist of music can improve the lives of people living with dementia. In fact, listening to music that is personally meaningful has many psychological benefits, meaning anyone can benefit from a playlist.
