Rotary Club of Thame & District continues its series of online speaker meetings with a talk by Jeff Rozelaar entitled “The foundation of the state of Israel – blessing or curse?”. The talk explores the background to the creation of the country.  It tries to give a balanced view of one of the World’s most contentious political issues. The talk will take place online via Zoom on Wednesday 17 February 2021 with a prompt start at 7:30 pm.

About the author

Jeff Rozelaar is a BA Hons History Graduate with over 55 years’ experience as a teacher from private schools to "prison" schools. Since the publication of his book "Bagels and Bacon" by the History Press in 2011 he has developed a career as a speaker for the U3A, WI and various other organisations around the Home Counties.

Jeff has written many books, his latest being a play about Benjamin Disraeli - Queen Victoria's favourite Prime Minister. A one man play he presents himself. It was performed at The Old Court Theatre, Windsor. He has directed over 100 plays and musicals and still takes leading roles on stage. In the professional world he currently works as a film extra or background artiste. In 1984, he part-produced a film entitled "Our Railway and Social History" for British Rail education. Jeff was an active sportsman and was once offered a trial for a professional football team. In 1997 he represented GB in the first indoor European Veterans athletic championship. 

How to join Rotary

Since the start of the pandemic, the members and partners of the Rotary Club of Thame & District as well as its offspring, Phoenix Community Club, have continued to be in contact each other and support the local communities. Since March 2020, the club has welcomed 7 new members. The club’s doors are largely open to welcome new volunteer members. 

The club’s fundraising campaign is the virtual real Thame & Villages 21 for 21 which runs till the end of March 2021. Anyone can join and fundraise towards Thame & District local charities.
