Northallerton's 'Around The Town' expands it's reach to Darlington and Stockton

North Group

We have made it on to the front page of today’s Darlington & Stockton Times, with a trailer for our main full page feature article and large photograph on page 14, describing our “Around the Town with Northallerton Rotary Club” campaign to promote and support local independent businesses.  The page 1 and 14 excerpts are attached, and the Editor has used the headline “Success of Business Promotion Campaign”, although I couldn’t capture the whole headline in my scan of it.

Over the last week I have exchanged several emails with Hannah Chapman, the Editor in Chief of the newspaper, to encourage her to publicise our important campaign with a major article and front page trailer, and she has been true to her promise.  My press release included the trailer for the front page, in the hope that she would give us the prominence I requested.  What is most encouraging is that she has used my words and put her name to them as “Hannah Chapman, Editor”, so the skills I gained from the District 1040 press release workshop which I attended recently have clearly paid off!

In my email of thanks to her today I have suggested that she might want me to send her an update in a few months’ time, to keep the campaign in the public’s eye, particularly as we open up again after lockdown, so that we encourage people to shop locally in our precious independent shops in Northallerton.

All best wishes,

Phil Roser
