Haworth & Worth Valley Rotary launch Community Grant Scheme

Rotarians lend a helping hand.

When we emerge from the pandemic world of Covid-19 life will not be the same as before. So, the Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley’s Charitable Trust, is offering a helping hand to small organisations in the Worth Valley by starting a brand-new small grant scheme.

Starting on Wednesday, February 3rd, the Rotary Club’s Trust is making up to £2,000 available to assist organisations throughout the valley with grants, typically up to £500.

This new initiative is designed to assist small charities, clubs, companies or support groups with grants that will enable them to continue with initiatives that support the residents of the valley.

To be considered for a grant, organisations need to fill in an application form that will be available on the club’s web site www.haworthrotary.co.uk/go/cg from February 3rd. You can also send an e-mail to: info@haworthrotary.co.uk to request an application form.

Ian Park, the Club’s President, said: “Connecting with the community is a key objective for Rotarians and this new scheme is one of our club’s major projects for the current Rotary year.

“We’ll be happy to receive applications from organisations within the Worth Valley but it’s important to remember that we’re looking to support groups that involve people who live in the area and that our focus will be on the initiatives they are taking, not on running costs.

“It’s the first time that we’ve undertaken such a scheme and we’re excited about the possibilities of helping other groups in the Valley.”

The grant scheme opens on February 3rd and it will continue to accept applications until March 28th. After that deadline, the trustees of the Rotary Club’s Charitable Trust will settle on the successful applications and the awards will be made during April.

Nicholas Oughtibridge, Chairman of the Trust Fund’s trustees and the club’s Immediate Past President, added: “Once the awards have been made we will be looking at how the grants are applied and remaining in touch with the group.

“If this new scheme works well then we will explore the possibilities of running it on an annual basis.

“At the same time, we’ll be happy if individuals or other organisations want to join in this scheme by making donations to the fund so we can assist more groups throughout the Worth Valley.”
