Hornsea Rotary thank runners and local businesses for their outstanding generosity

Hornsea Rotary

As a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic Hornsea Rotary Club has sadly had to cancel many of its fund-raising events. One such event is the Hornsea Third Marathon Race which was not possible in 2020 and again this year’s planned run in April has had to be cancelled.

The main recipient of monies raised at past runs was the Marie Curie charity which along with other charities has suffered considerably since March last year.

Thanks to the kindness of many of our runners, who decided to donate their prepaid registration fees, and to local businesses who have agreed that their sponsorship money be donated to Marie Curie a cheque for £3500 has been sent by Hornsea Rotary to that Charity.

In these times when businesses are struggling it is so refreshing that two of our local companies Woods of Hornsea and D.J. Prescott (Builders)Limited have seen fit to donate sums of £200 and £500 rather than accept the return of sponsorship money. In addition, the Withernwick Windfarm Community Fund Panel have kindly agreed to donate £494, granted to Hornsea Rotary Club to assist in the Race Administration, to Marie Curie.

Hornsea Rotary Club and Marie Curie wish to publicly express their thanks to all concerned for their outstanding generosity.
