Message to Rotary District 1060 from broadcaster Sir Martyn Lewis.

Here’s news of a really special “Present from the Past” – a personalised video for relatives, friends and colleagues, compiled from the ITN and Reuters archive, and narrated by former BBC & ITN newscaster Sir Martyn Lewis.

My father, Dudley, was intensely proud of holding many offices for his local Rotary Club in Coleraine - including District President. And that is just one reason why YourBigDay Ltd, the company I recently created, is offering a very special charity fundraising deal to Rotary Clubs right across Great Britain and Ireland.

Another reason is that my sister, Jill, was diagnosed with polio at the age of 4, so from personal experience she and I can testify to the importance of the great worldwide campaign by Rotarians to “End Polio Now”.(Both of us are delighted to be speaking at some future Rotary conferences).

My mother, who had nursed injured soldiers in the evacuation from Dunkirk, refused to let Jill go to hospital, insisting on nursing her at home – an incredible act of love from a mother to her child.  My sister went on to be school hockey captain and was the first from our school to go to Cambridge University.

But not all polio victims have that degree of personal care or can achieve such a successful recovery, which is why Rotary’s “End Polio Now” campaign is so vital.

So why not join me on a trip down YOUR memory lane!  Every Your Big Day video – easily ordered and delivered online as a new kind of present for family, friends and colleagues  - will trigger a £6 donation from us to End Polio Now.  Simply go to yourbigday.tv - and be sure to enter the word POLIO in the promotional box on the last page of the ordering process. If every Rotarian’s family orders just ONE video, Rotary GBI could raise many thousands of pounds for End Polio Now.

And you don’t have to wait for the recipient’s birthday or anniversary. At just £19.50 it makes a great present at any time – even for Fathers’ Day
coming up soon on 20th June !

Fun for you.
Fundraising for a cause you hold dear.
And thankyou for doing so much to eradicate a disease from which my sister recovered, but so many do not.
