Car Treasure Hunt

Sat, Aug 7th 2021 at 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

This was a very enjoyable event with £100 raised for our charitable efforts in the community.

Following the success of last year's Treasure Hunt, it was suggested we hold another one in 2021. Cathy and Ivan Jones organised the route and clues, as they did last year, starting at Rotary members David and Trixie Morgan's home near Leintwardine. The starts were staggered every 4 minutes and 11 cars took part.....

The route travelled through the beautiful scenery of Herefordshire and Powys, ending up at Rotary members Ivan and Cathy's home near Leominster. Unfortunately the day, and the scenery, were spoiled by the pouring rain, but after three hours the first cars, who had completed the route, arrived. Unfortunately two cars got lost and forfeited their winnings by opening the envelope to find the final destination.....

Upon arrival everyone tucked into their own "picnics" indoors ( there was outdoor seating under a marquee but the rain did not encourage that!) and when everyone had finished the answers to the clues were read out. From a total score of 62 from 56 clues the winners ( Lynne and Tricia ) got 56 and 1/2, second place ( Norman and Margaret ) got 53 and 1/2 and the "wooden spooners" ( David and Trixie) got 45. Many thanks, also, to member Angela Ellis for donating the prizes and to Cathy for printing the certificates of participation.....

Overall everyone seemed to enjoy themselves ( lots of smiling faces and kind comments ) so it looks like Ivan and Cathy be doing another one next year. We hope you can come along and have an enjoyable day out too. However one comment was that next year the clues should be harder so watch out for that!!! See you soon.....
