Saturday 6th November 2021 was a great success

Borderland was back, providing a bit of joy for thousands

When planning this year's display there was some anxiety.  How would the public react with the Covid pandemic uncertainties ?  Borderland Rotary provide the Bonfire, and a further worry for the leading organiser, Jonathan Jones, was the lack of timber from the usual sources.  After much chasing, he went collecting with Harry Richardson and Eric Soper, to provide plenty.

Borderlanders first task was to build the BIG BONFIRE.  It's huge, and constructed to take account of the  wind, in a way that can be successfully lit. ( A must ! )  Heavy duty mechanical help is needed to reach its scale and height.

This major 'Town Event' is to the credit of Oswestry Town Council. They look after the land at Brygunton Park and contract out for the fantastic fireworks display.

All the £9k raised goes to local good causes, and every local charity is invited to apply for a share.  A  joint decision is made later for the distribution.

In the evening, Borderland Rotary are there for crowd control and safety, as well as collecting the entry money.  Safety and reasonable cost for families is so important.
