The two finalists from the School Competition in July, Amber Jones and Ruby Paton faced each other in the Market Hall at the Food Festival on Sunday 18th September with Ruby Paton declared the winner to go through to the next stage of the competition.

Our two finalists from the School Competition on 12 July 2022 Amber Jones and Ruby Paton faced each other in the play off of the Club Young Chef Competition at the Abergavenny Food Festival on Sunday 18th September 2022. The competition was judged by Abergavenny Community Centre Chef and Food Festival Hospitality Host Elaine Blanchford and Rotary Club Youth Chair and local GP Don Grant. The judges said that both finalists had achieved a very high standard having come through the school competition in June and it was difficult to have to pick a winner. Ruby Paton was declared the overall winner and awarded a prize of £25 and she will go through to the Rotary Southern Wales District Final due to be held in March 2023. Both finalists were presented with a knife set worth about £100 from the Abergavenny Food Festival and a book for the Rotary Club entitled the Almost Effortless Cookbook
