The district Youth Speaks competition was successfully held at Islwyn High School on Saturday March 11th. With four teams in the Intermediate section and four teams in the Senior section.
The content of the debates was very high and the presentation by all the teams was of a notable standard - congratulation to them all! This made for a very busy afternoon for the adjudicators,to whom we offer our heartfelt thanks. The senior competition was adjudicated by Mr. Geoff Sandercock and Mr. Jim Keech, while the intermediate competition was adjudicated by Mr. Tony Kear and Mr Ruscombe Jones.
The winner of the senior competition was Queen Elizabeth High School, Carmarthen - sponsored by Carmarthen Towy Rotary. Runners up were Whitchurch High School – sponsored by Cardiff Breakfast.
Individual Prizes were awarded in the Senior section to to Violet Lloyd of Queen Elizabeth High School for Best Chairperson, to Lauren Price of Whitchurch High School for The Best Proposer, and to Holly Whittal-Williams of Queen Elizabeth High School Carmarthen for Best Opposer
The winning Intermediate Team was was Howell’s School Cardiff – sponsored by Llanishen Rotary. Runners Up were St. John Lloyd Catholic School, Llanelly – sponsored by Llanelly Rotary
Individual prizes were awarded in the Intermediate section to Joe Wakeman of St Josephs High School Newport as Best Chairperson, to Poppy Marshall of Howell’s School Cardiff as Best Proposer, and to Pihu Munjal of Howell’s School Cardiff as Best Opposer
