Two events in one Weekend!!

Stainborough Rotary has been able to raise a total of £6650.00 for The Hospice, Barnsley Youth Choir and LimbBo Foundation in one weekend.

Stainborough Rotary - Two events over the same weekend. 1st - 3rd September.

The first event was the Worsbrough Charity Beer festival. Led by Rtn Ian Whittle

On Friday the 1st September through to Sunday 3rd September.

Ian said, ‘There we were nervous, hoping that customers would come through the door, we shouldn't have worried, you did!’

‘Friday night was kicked off by musician Matt Mckenzie who entertained us in fine voice.

Saturday's entertainers were Harry Walker, Lee Bailey & Emilia Hill who were all great.

We finished on Sunday with a fabulous finale. Three young singers Jake & Mary (15) from Barnsley Youth Choir and Lille Banton (14) We'll all remember where we were when you're all rich and famous, really terrific. The Barnsley community are very proud in what you're achieving, well done guys.

The award-winning pies were supplied by OnPar and were absolutely delicious.

A special mention to Stancil Brewery who have sourced all the beers and have been very generous in supporting the Beer Festival.

I must say the beer was 'pulled' very professionally by the Hospice Volunteers and Rotarians; we had a great Laugh

All this couldn't have happened without the support from Worsbrough Sports & Development Association (miners Welfare) who pulled out all the stops to make it a fun weekend.

Thank you to all the sponsors & donations all in aid of Barnsley Hospice and other local Rotary charities. We were able to raise £3400.00’

The second event was the Ladies lunch.held on Saturday 2nd September Led by Rtn Barbara Lee:

This was attended by 175 ladies. It was held at the Holiday Inn, Dodworth in aid of Barnsley Youth Choir and LimbBo Foundation.

Entertainment was provided by the immensely talented Hannah Rowe, a senior soloist with the Youth Choir and also 14 year old Lilie Banton. Both girls are a credit to Barnsley and the community are very proud of them. A fashion parade of beautiful outfits provided by Barnsley Hospice hub also took place.

Before and after lunch ladies were able to shop at the various stalls selling a range of goods as well as partake in the Lucky Dip and Raffle.

All ladies received a glass of Prosecco on arrival, There was also a surprise gift of a stuffed toy for one lucky lady on every table.

The total amount raised is £3250 In addition attendees brought clothing to the lunch for the Hospice to sell at a later date. Well done everyone!

Club President Derek Housley said.

Special thanks to Rtn Barbara Lee, who led on the Ladies Lunch  and to Rtn Ian Whittle who led on the  Beer festival,  with monies raised supporting  many charities & good causes.

This comes on top of a further £1135 which was recently raised at a coffee morning for Brain Tumour Research.

So a fantastic effort by all involved, attendees, sponsors, supporters and helpers. Thanks to all who made it possible.
