Wickford walks a mile!

Wickford takes a step to help the eradication of Polio worldwide

One of Rotary’s biggest long term projects is the eradication of Polio, and in conjunction with our partners around the world we have immunised more than 2.5 billion children in order for them to fend of the devastating effects of the disease. We have reduced polio cases by more than 99.9% and Rotary will continue until the disease is ended for good.

October 24th is World Polio Day, and to mark it this year Rotarians and friends are encouraged to walk a mile to end Polio.

Spearheaded by Rotarian Jack Pemberton, Wickford went ahead and did just that in time to make a donation to World Polio day by walking the length of Southend Pier (and, for some, back again!) on a glorious Sunday in September, and gathering donations to the sum of £173. Well done Jack!

Local Community Projects

back We are very proud to work with the Local community in many ways, from raising money for local good causes through to providing events and facilities for the people of the town. This section tells you more about what we do.
